The second annual City of Wolfforth Water Expo is set for 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at Frenship High School. “Water—It Matters” is the theme.
Speakers, exhibitors and vendors will provide information about xeric landscaping, water conservation in the home and landscape, rainwater harvesting and other water-related subjects.
Dotty Woodson, a water resource specialist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research and Extension Center in Dallas, is the keynote speaker. Woodson is one of the creators of Texas SmartScape, a water-efficient landscape design and maintenance program.
Several other activities planned for this year’s Expo include: water “taste test”; kids area featuring several hands-on water projects; “Walter Drop,” the Expo mascot, will be on hand to visit with attendees; food trucks.
Primary sponsors of the event are the Wolfforth’s Community Development Corp. and Economic Development Corporation. Other sponsors include American Bank of Commerce and City Bank. Additional assistance is being provided by High Plains Underground Water Conservation District No. 1, Lubbock Master Gardeners, and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.
