Educational Programs

B. May 21– Basic Horse Management 101
Topics include:Basic Safety, Pasture and Hay Selection and Usage, Basic Horse Nutrition, Basic Horse Reproduction, General Health Care and Dentistry, Body Condition, Permanent Identification of Horses and Basic Hoof Care

C. August 15-17 — Texas 4-H Mentor Training
Topics include: Educating Youth with Livestock Projects, Live Evaluation of Market Lambs & Goats, Feeding and Nutrition, Supervising Projects and Project Visits, Responsibilities of the Adult Leader and Carcass Evaluation.

D. August 18th — Goat Management Workshop
This workshop is designed to address goat herd management strategies for Small Acreage Landowners

E. August 27 — Late-Season Management Meeting
This meeting will provide producers with a unique opportunity to hear from Extension Specialists regarding best management practices for crossing the finish line on the 2008 growing season.

F. December 13 — 4-H and FFA Quality Counts
The purpose of this program is to teach the basic principles of livestock management as they relate to facility maintenance, selection, nutrition, animal health, handling, showmanship and transportation.
